There are many things having a relation to the name of Abovyan in Yerevan. 1933 the bronze monument of Abovyan was erected in the square of ‘Moscow’ cinema. The work belongs to a sculptor Andreas Ter-Marukyan. 1964 the statue was moved to the area of the Kh. Abovyan house-museum. Abovyan was the first among the Armenian writers to have a statue.
The main and, perhaps, the most beautiful street of Yerevan was named after Abovyan. Abovyan street starts from the heart of the town Republic Square and streches to ‘Plani glukh’. Here, in 1950 a new monument of Abovyan was erected. The sculptor is S. Stepanyan, the architect-G. Tamanyan. The statue is made of bronze and the pedestal is of granite.
The foursquare of Children Railway carries the name of Abovyan.
One of the higher educational institutions of our Republic Pedagogical University was named after the Great Enlightener.
Abovyan town was named in honour of Abovyan in 1961.
